Tell us a little about yourself, family, work, passions...

I am a software engineer at Jack Henry&Associates for the past 13 years. I’ve been in software development for over 17 years and in the information technology world for 25 years. I’ve always loved computers and knew from a very early age that I wanted to work in technology field. I am very passionate about everything I do in life, am very adventurous and enjoy traveling to new places. I don’t have any specific hobbies because I’m always into trying new things and always into something new. This year I’ve been focusing on getting into photography and working on setting up a studio in my home. I have a 22 year son who works at T-Mobile and he has two sons. So yes I’m a grandmother, and I’m also a mother, sister, aunt and friend. My oldest grandson will be 3 in December and the youngest is going on 6 months and they are my world and the love of my life. My grandchildren have been my motivation for getting into photography and being able to capture their little moments in life.

How long you’ve been with LPYF and what made you join?

I started at Live Pure Yoga in November of Last year. I had gym membership before joining but found it hard to find motivation or someone to work out with on a regular basis. I met a friend who owns a yoga studio in St. Louis and he was always talking about Yoga and the benefits and how great it was. I happen to drive by LPYF everyday as it’s literally 5 minutes from where I live and in the path of my daily drive to work and back. One day I decided to stop in and find out what it was about and found they had a free week. I tried the free week and came to almost every class they had to try and I really feel in love with Yoga and I loved that they also had some fitness classes. I enjoyed the body sculpting which was a quick 30 minute workout and found rebounding to be great workout and fun. I also thought the instructors and the members were nice and friendly as well as supportive and non judgmental. I found that working out on a regular basis really helped my anxiety and helped me focus in life. I decided this was where I needed to be and I joined for a year membership and canceled my gym membership.

What are a few of your fitness and health long/short term goals?

I’ve never been very athletic but I do have prior military experience and through that is how I first found fitness and a routine of working out when I was 19 years old. Even after leaving the military I loved staying fit and keeping in shape. My goals are to just remain healthy, live a long life to be around as long as possible and to have enough energy to keep up with my grand kids.

Where do you find your motivation?

My motivation comes from my faith and my family. I just want to live healthy and enjoy life as much as possible. As well as since coming to LPYF I’ve found a deeper motivation in staying fit and really enjoying being able to workout with a really great group of people who are all very supportive.

What is your favorite and least favorite fitness activities?

My favorite fitness activity is Yoga and strength training. My least favorite is running or cardio exercise.

What’s one piece of advice you would offer someone regarding nutrition or exercise that you’ve found helped you?

Know your body limits and do what works for your body and your needs when it comes to exercise. It’s ok to take a break when your feeling exhausted and over worked. Don’t judge your fitness journey based on the next person and don’t ever give up.

For fun, what has been your favorite place you've ever traveled too and why?

This is a really tough question to answer because I am very adventurous and have loved every place I’ve been. There is always something to love and it’s really a toss up for me because it’s tied between San Francisco and New York. San Francisco was an amazing trip as I went during the 4th of July and was fortunate to be able watch the fireworks on the SS Jeremiah army supply ship docked on the San Francisco bay. So we got to watch the firework display as they were set off over the bay and also over the Golden Gate bridge with the moon sparkling over the bay which honestly felt like I was watching fireworks for the first time in my life it was so amazing. Its such a beautiful city and really nice place to visit. I also absolutely loved New York so much history there, all the sites, the food and the fast pace and it is so diverse so many different people and walks of life. It was just amazing and I came back feeling like I found my place and like I am a New York girl and can’t wait to go back there again.
