September 2019 Member Spotlight - Nichole Amstutz
Tell us a little about yourself, family, work, passions...
My husband Shane and I have been married for 23 years. We have two boys. Keaton, 21, is a junior biology major at Evangel University and plays on the soccer team. Carson, 18, is a senior at Ozark High School and plays in the soccer team as well. I have been a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Ozark North Elementary for 25 years. I love reading, watching soccer, reality TV, and summer.
How long you’ve been with LPYF and what made you join?
I have been a member of LPYF for 4 years after a late night, alcohol induced Groupon purchase with friends.
What are a few of your fitness and health long/short term goals?
Through the years, my attendance has been inconsistent for several reasons including surgeries, kids schedules, and bouts of laziness. So, at the beginning of the year I made a New Year’s resolution to attend 50 classes in 100 days. I met that goal well before the 100 days so then I upped it to 60 classes in the next 100 days. Since I hit my 500th class a few weeks ago, I’m trying to reach 550 before the end of the year.
Where do you find your motivation?
Jokingly (but really) I say that public shaming keeps me accountable 😂. I work out harder and longer with other people than I ever would at home. Also, as I get older, I don’t want to backslide to the fitness level I was before because it will be harder to gain it back.
What is your favorite and least favorite fitness activities?
I like the variety of different classes that are offered in the mornings so I don’t really have a favorite. The variety keeps it fun, and makes different parts of your body hurt each day. I don’t enjoy running, but do it a time or two a week. I won’t be breaking any land speed records.
What’s one piece of advice you would offer someone regarding nutrition or exercise that you’ve found helped you?
My nutrition advice is not to follow my advice because I eat terribly 😂. My exercise advice is to just get through the LPYF door and the rest will take care of itself. The knowledge and encouragement of the instructors will provide a great class if you just show up. Also, find a great music playlist to motivate you (mine might be questionable)
For fun, what has been your favorite place you've ever traveled too and why?
An all expenses paid trip to the Cayman Islands because you are expected to relax and do nothing (and it was free )
